Striving towards a more responsible production model

Like any quality-driven industrial process, saddle production creates a certain amount of waste.

This particular waste is especially difficult to recycle since it consists of various assembled materials which cannot be easily separated and reused in their original form. Therefore, for years, Selle Royal has been working hard to find a way in which to responsibly repurpose these production scraps.

Circular Innovation: the stages of Stracciatella

With Stracciatella, we have developed a method for "circular re-usage" which takes place in three simple steps: 

• Collect: We gather discarded saddles and excess scrap materials from our production and testing processes.
• Grind: These items are mechanically ground and transformed into a uniform black powder.
• Recycle: This powder is then injected into the foam that fills new saddles, thus reducing waste and promoting a circular production model.
